Eco-refurbishment of 1920s lodge house set within the Grade II* listed parklands of the Killerton Estate in Devon.

We worked closely with the National Trust to create this exemplar sustainable holiday home. Internally, we focused on making bright contemporary spaces that take their design cues from the Arts and Crafts movement. Muted colours, papered ceilings and elements inspired by nature feature throughout the cottage.

With a focus on sustainability, all the furniture was either made in the UK from reclaimed or FSC certified timber, or was a vintage find. We also sourced local fabrics and finishes including the unbleached linen for the dining chairs and hand-printed wallpaper for the bedrooms made using vegetable inks on FSC paper. Wool fabric from Scotland was used to upholster the sofa and to make throws and cushions.
