Woodford Architecture and Interiors were invited to prepare designs for the complete remodeling of an existing house in the inspiring and dramatic and steeply wooded Teign valley in Devon near Exeter.
Our proposals removed a number of unsympathetic extensions and we proposed the formation a pair of bookend gables which allowed for the retention of the original villa at the heart of the house, part of our clients brief.
Set on the grounds of a former silver lead mine, where the ruins of the former engine house and chimney remained, our proposals included the landscape remediation of the site.
The recently completed house has created a superb new family home.
“Since taking on a project in the Dartmoor National Park we have had a very good experience of working with Woodford Architecture and Interiors. Gavin has been excellent at leading us through the process and has come up with a beautiful and sympathetic design solution to what is a complicated property and challenging site. The thorough application he put together and his respectful relationship with the planning authority meant that we had first time success with our application for what is a substantial build and remodeling of the property. His work is thorough and methodical with fantastic attention to detail. We have been regularly updated on progress and are very pleased with the timescales and how well everything has progressed. Recommended consultants have also been very good. Above all the team are friendly and very pleasant to work with.”
