Work will shortly begin on the replacement of an existing dilapidated farmhouse and farm buildings with a new zero carbon farmhouse, located near the Camel estuary near Padstow in Cornwall. The project has been driven by a desire to create an outstanding low impact home and landscape design that sensitively responds to the sites’ outstanding setting and local characterises, employing local rural skills and rural methods of construction, using locally sourced sustainable materials of the highest quality with a view to achieve net zero. The materials palette is rustic, including corten steel brise soleil, local slate stone walling and roofing and a biodiverse green roof.
